Reuse, Reuse, Reuse...

I just had to show this to the world. I found this idea in Wela's gardening blog (http://mygardenandsuch.blogspot.com/) and I could just kick myself for not thinking of it before!

I don't know how many of these bed springs I've seen sitting by trash cans waiting to be carted away by the trash man.

Worse, I bought some expensive grid online for my cucumbers that is neither as big nor as sturdy as this and I made a trellis for my peas out of wood and chicken wire that will probably not last more than one season.

  1. Ha! That's awesome! I've also made a trellis out of bed/cot springs. I had no idea if anyone else had done the same.

  2. A great idea indeed. I think I will have one or two of these by the weekend. Craiglist is a good source for stuff like this, despite the serial killer thing...

  3. I like how they went the extra step to paint it. Adds a bit of whimsey.

  5. Gosh, what a great idea, especially painted! Oh, my hubby is so going to hate that I know this now (ha!)...I'm always wanting us to pull over to score free stuff on trash day :)

  6. Love it! I re-use a fence gate for peas and portable fence sections for beans. The fence sections are coming apart so I'm on a mission for new supports. Found you from Matron's blog. I'm in WA now, but originally from KS (Andover).
